Rebooting My Career

My decision to become an entrepreneur

Nothing gets started without starting.

I never thought I would be an entrepreneur or would have a desire to be, but I believe God has a way of leading you in the direction you need to go. I’m the wife of a wonderful husband, a proud mother of three children and have always worked full time, but my heart’s desire was to be a stay-at-home mom.

Working full time and juggling three children is no easy feat and it got increasingly difficult because my children kept getting sick and I couldn’t figure out why. Doctor trips became a routine with the normal prescriptions, etc. I did my best to give them healthy meals but somehow they always managed to catch that “virus” and you know when one gets sick, so does everyone else.

It became challenging in my career because I kept calling in sick, using up the little sick days I had to care for them. Sometimes I would have to send them to school sick because I couldn’t take time off. I felt so guilty because I felt caught between my family and my career. I really wanted to be there for my family and wanted them to be happy and healthy but leaving my position was not an option. We were a two-income family and needed every penny.

I felt like I was failing them and myself. I set high expectations (maybe too high) for myself as a mother and a career woman and things were slipping on every side.

Then when I thought it couldn’t be more challenging, the daycare centre my children attended went into an enteric outbreak. I took quite some time from work to help them recover. Why was this amazing? Them being sick wasn’t. It was horrible but it’s like we suddenly realized that we needed to really invest into turning their health around and making their immune system stronger. Despite all our best efforts, our family needed a boost of nutrition.

I understood that healthy eating does not always solve nutritional and immunity problems, sometimes it takes more than one solution to get what your body needs.

My husband got as much supplements as we could afford and we all started taking them. After some time, we saw a huge improvement in our health. The amount of illnesses decreased significantly.

That’s when I realized that the “secret” to keeping children healthy is supplements and eating a balanced diet. It may seem simple but before the outbreak we never studied to understand the importance of a strong immune system and how supplements aids to strengthen it.

Our plan was to get top quality supplements that I knew would help our family. But there was still a problem…..

Most of the supplements we bought or saw was full of fillers or out of our budget. We needed something that was high quality yet affordable.

We ended up becoming so frustrated with it but saw an opportunity. We decided to create our own brand of supplements for children and adults.

We chose to call it Bee Balm. Bee Balm is a flower that is used for its antimicrobial and soothing properties and it’s often used to treat colds and flu. Fitting isn’t it?

To create a supplement brand with top quality ingredients to help ourseles and other families was something we really wanted to do.

I am confident knowing I am giving my family the best.

We then started letting others know about Bee Balm supplements and got great reviews.

Because of this, I realized a passion and a love that I never knew that I had. The desire to help people and the love of business. It’s a journey I am growing into and I am so excited to be doing it.

All of this means that I will be able to spend time with my children and pursue my new found passion.
