Faith And Business
Why they go hand in hand
90% of all start up businesses fail.
Pretty grim statistics. Especially when it’s your dream or passion to have a business of your own.
So, what makes someone pursue becoming an entrepreneur with the given statistics? I guess you could also ask, what makes a person want to get married given the statistics for a long lasting relationship is not so great either.
I believe the answer to that is FAITH. It’s the deep rooted belief that it’s going to work no matter what. The belief that you have what it takes to make it successful.
Entrepreneurs face so many obstacles when starting out. There is the prospect of failure, the criticism from friends and family, the start up costs and roadblocks. It’s enough to make any one hesitate.
But yet we pursue.
One of my favourite Bible verses is, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”. In other words, faith is believing that something is already there even though you don’t see it. Many great motivational speakers often say, “if you can visualize it, you can achieve it!”
Faith takes courage and strength. Strength to pursue your goals even when others say it will never work. On this journey, you realize that the opinions of others are not that important anymore — it’s what YOU believe.
Faith takes courage to get up and go again when you’ve made so many mistakes. You begin to see how much you have learned from every mistake and you use it to push you forward.
Faith is determination to get you through all the roadblocks that we face and it blocks the inner voice that silently tells you to give up.
Now I understand that failure is real and many people do quit. I get that it takes a lot of hard work and consistency to be successful at anything but I believe that my faith in God and the belief that it WILL work will help my dreams become a reality.
Another Bible verse says, “a just man falleth seven times and riseth again”. So no matter how many times we may fall, let’s get up and….
Keep the faith!
